On our way up the coast to San Francisco, we pulled over in Monterrey to stock up on trinkets and treats at the local market and have a wander around by the sea. We climbed narrow staircases down to the ocean and spied on sea otters from rocky perches then happened upon these fields blanketed in purple on our way back to the car.

Ocean

These photos feel like they were taken an age ago. We've now landed in London and are getting about setting up this new leg of our lives on the other side of the globe. I've been so busy and without internet for a good portion of the trip so have a tonne of backlogged photos to get through so bear with me. There's a more up to date account of our trip on my instagram @lauraallardfleischl and hopefully once I have my many many rolls of film developed I'll be able to create an online diary somewhere with those.

dinosaur park

These shots were taken at Cabazon Dinosaur Park on the way back from Salvation Mountain where I was shooting a week ago - more on that later. We've left LA now and traveled up the coast, along the Pacific Ocean, to San Francisco where we based ourselves for a few days. This morning we rose early and set off towards Yosemite National Park. Despite the heat at sea level the hills were capped with snow and we drove through sporadic drifts until we reached the lakeside town of Lee Vining where we stopped for a diner lunch then carried on to Mammoth Lakes, a picturesque little collection of alpine chalets, where we found lodging for the night. Tomorrow we have another early start before heading into Death Valley and off to Vegas. Bring on the desert!

Elliot and I have spent the past week in a beautiful guest house at the base of the hills in Echo Park, Los Angeles. There hasn't been much much down time as I've been working on a few projects with Nasty Gal (so keep an eye out for those) but in the free time we've found we've spent it exploring the neighborhoods, checking out live music in the local dives and rummaging through vintage stores, topped off with a sprinkling of cliche touristy activities. Today we started our road trip up the coast, the feeling of freedom associated with open roads through beachy communities dotted with palm trees and an almost surreal, constant, hazy, golden light is incredible, we found ourselves in Pismo Beach around 7pm so located a well priced hotel looking out over the neon lights and surf by the pier to settle for the night before continuing up to San Francisco tomorrow.

How sick is this tee?! It's from one of my favourite new online stores, Wixii, they have the coolest stock and, best of all, are New Zealand based! I'm also pretty obsessed with these shoes, I don't think I've worn anything else since the day they arrived, they're comfortable and look cool with everything.

I finally got some of the highly anticipated full length dungarees from Glassons and they're fricken rad. There's something liberating about wearing the same kind of stuff you wore on your first day of primary school, plus, despite the inevitable 'mom butt' the cut is weirdly flattering.
